  4. Not to nitpick too much, but this is labeled as "Tom and Jerry TV Series 1940" , however Tom and Jerry was not a TV series in 1940. The characters were seen in a series of short subject cartoons produced by and released to movie theaters (not on television) by MGM from 1940 - 1958 , directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. The Tom and Jerry theatrical shorts were revived in the 1960's after the series creators Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera had left MGM in 1957 to start their own studio. MGM briefly hired Gene Deitch to make some Tom and Jerry theatrical films in 1961 - 1962 (usually considered the low-point of the theatrical T & J shorts) , then the series was passed on to Chuck Jones who directed or supervised the T & J cartoons from 1963 - 1967. (with some of the shorts directed or co-directed by others, such as Jim Pabian, Abe Levitow, and Ben Washam)

Of course, the original T & J theatrical cartoons were re-released for television syndication and later on in the 1970's after the passing of the theatrical short cartoon era there were some TV series made with the characters (by Hanna Barbera and Filmation) which were a pale shadow of the original H & B theatrical cartoons of the 1940's and '50's. The original theatrical cartoons continue to be shown on television , but Tom and Jerry is not a "TV Series" as such.
